7HC.001 - Neurorehabilitation Enhancement Techniques

Event Time: Friday March 22, 2013 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Topic(s): Spinal Cord/Nerve Root Disorders, Subspecialty in Focus
Director(s): Randolph Marshall MD, FAAN
Description: Brain stimulation, robotics, and circuitry-enhancing pharmacological agents have made substantial contributions to the understanding of basic brain mechanisms underlying motor recovery, language, attention, executive functioning, and social cognition. More importantly to the clinician, the techniques have direct treatment implications as they have been used to treat disorders such as aphasia, neglect, depression, and motor control after brain injury. Faculty will address these topics as they pertain to application in clinical practice through lectures, demonstrations, and a panel discussion. This program is offered in partnership with the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, Society for Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology, the AAN Neural Repair and Rehabilitation Section, and the AAN Behavioral Neurology Section.
Completion Message: Participants should have an increased understanding for the potential of adjunctive neurorehabiliatation techniques to enhance recovery after brain injury.
Program Venue: HC. Half-Day Course
CME Credits: 3.5
Core Competencies: Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Medical Knowledge, Patient Care, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Professionalism, Systems-Based Practice
