Resident Scholarship to the Annual MeetingDeadline to nominate a resident is November 2, 2009 11:59 PM. Nominate a resident for this scholarship SponsorsThe AAN and the AAN Foundation are the official sponsors of the resident scholarship to the AAN Annual Meeting. PurposeThe resident scholarship is offered as an effort to recognize the importance of resident attendance at the AAN Annual Meeting. In order to receive one of the scholarships, residents need to be nominated for one by their Program Director. The $1,000 scholarship to be used to reimburse the resident for travel and registration expenses associated with attendance at the Annual Meeting. The scholarship will be given as an unrestricted educational grant to the resident’s institution and mailed to the Program Director after the Annual Meeting. If a program is located in the immediate vicinity of the Annual Meeting, the scholarship will be $500. ObjectiveTo recognize and reward residents who are AAN members interested in active involvement with the AAN. Nominating CriteriaAll residents nominated for a resident scholarship must meet the following nominating criteria for the scholarship.
The resident scholarship nomination application materials are reviewed by a panel of members from the Graduate Education Subcommittee (GES). Additional FundingIn an effort to bring more residents to the AAN Annual Meeting, a fund was established through the AAN Foundation to provide more Resident Annual Meeting Scholarships using donated honoraria from AAN CME faculty. Depending on the amount of donated honoraria the AAN will award additional scholarships for the 2010 AAN Annual Meeting. Therefore, each program may nominate ONE ADDITIONAL resident for a possible resident scholarship. The GES will apply the existing application/nominating criteria, selection process, and deadlines to the additional pool of scholarship applications. Note: residents nominated for the second scholarship must be adult neurology residents.
