Alliance Mission
The AAN Alliance is a member-based organization of spouses and significant others of Academy members. Although active year round, the Alliance's activities culminate during the AAN Annual Meeting. At the meeting, the Alliance sponsors a lecture on neurological issues that are of general interest, awards prizes to Junior members of the AAN for clinical and basic research, and coordinates and sponsors tours of the host city open to Alliance and AAN members.
Alliance Goals
The AAN Alliance has four primary goals:
- Recognize outstanding research by young clinicians and investigators
AAN Alliance membership dues go to support the S. Weir Mitchell Award and the Founders Award. - Promote education in neurology for members and others
The AAN Alliance's Issues in Neurology Lecture and other activities, such as caregiver workshops, work to promote education in neurology. Alliance members receive free admission to the AAN Annual Meeting Scientific Programs and Exhibits. - Support the AAN Foundation
The AAN Alliance makes annual donations, serves on the AAN Foundation (AAN Foundation) board, and assists with activities such as the Silent Auction at the Annual Meeting. - Strengthen relationships among the neurology community
The Hospitality Room and reception, cultural tours, and activities all provide opportunities for Alliance members and their spouses and significant others to form lasting relationships.
