The Neuroimaging Section furthers patient care, research, and teaching in the area of Neuroimaging. Events and opportunities include seminars, publications, and presentations at AAN scientific sessions, as well as other activities that encourage or increase the interest in Neuroimaging.

Neurologists Encouraged to Use New Epilepsy Measures Published by AAN

The American Academy of Neurology has developed quality measures to help measure and improve the care of patients with epilepsy. (April 5, 2011)

Imaging Efficiency

The addendum includes IEP-008-10 that has been harmonized with NQF measure #0512 to incorporate CT imaging of the cervical spine. (April 5, 2011)

AAN: Any Athlete Suspected of Having Concussion Should Be Removed from Play

The AAN has published a position statement calling for any athlete who is suspected of having a concussion to be removed from play until the athlete is evaluated by a neurologist or physician with training in the evaluation and management of sports concussion. (April 5, 2011)

UCNS Neuroimaging Accreditation Application Deadline

The accreditation application deadlines are as follows: July 1, for fall review, and December 31, for spring review. (April 5, 2011)

Supplementary ICD-9 'V-Code' Available October 1 to Identify 'Drip and Ship' Patients

A new ICD-9 "V-code" has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to identify patients who are given tPA (rt-PA) at a differing institution within 24 hours of an admission for ischemic stroke. (April 5, 2011)
