Markman Named Co-chair of New ACTION Pain Relief Initiative

The US Food and Drug Administration has awarded the University of Rochester Medical Center a $1 million contract to develop a partnership of public and private organizations to help bring more relief to the 76 million Americans with acute and chronic pain by speeding the identification of effective pain treatments. (April 7, 2011)

New AAN Guideline Examines Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation

An evidence-based guideline published online on December 30, 2009, and in print in the January 12, 2010, issue of the American Academy of Neurology's journal Neurology® states that transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) is not recommended for the treatment of chronic low-back pain due to lack of proven efficacy.
