Orly Avitzur, MD, MBA, FAAN

Orly Avitzur, MD, MBA, FAAN is a neurologist in practice in Tarrytown, New York and a medical writer. She writes the popular In Practice column on technology and practice for Neurology Today and is a frequent contributor to the Living Well column in Neurology Now. In the last five years, Dr. Avitzur has written over 100 articles in her areas of expertise including practice management, managed care trends, neurological and neurodiagnostic billing and coding, electronic health records and other digital tools to improve care. She speaks frequently to physician groups on the subjects of the use of technology and electronic medical records in practice, application of business principles to practice, and medical practice management.

She is an instructor at the Yale University School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor at the New York Medical College. She is the Chair of the Yale Neurology Alumni Association and Chair of the Electronic Health Records Work Group for the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). She also chairs the Practice Management and Technology Subcommittee and the Audit Committee at the AAN. She is on the editorial boards of Neurology Today and Medscape Neurology and Neurosurgery.
