Meet the Course Director: Wayne T. Cornblath, MD, FAAN
Wayne T. Cornblath MD, FAAN, is the course director for "Now You See It, Now You Know It: Pathognomonic Neuro-ophthalmology" taught along with Eric T. Eggenberger, DO, FAAN. AAN.com asked Dr. Cornblath to expand on the content of this course.
AAN.com: What will the format be for your course this year?
Cornblath: Our course consists of pictures and video depicting pathognomonic neuroophthalmology findings. First, the finding is presented and the audience is asked, using the audience response system, to identify the finding (similar to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire). Then the correct answer is given, and the finding is briefly explained. We encourage audience feedback and participation. The audience is encouraged to ask questions and bring up their own experiences.
AAN.com: Who will be the faculty this year? Is there anything attendees should know about your faculty?
Cornblath: Dr. Eric Eggenberger is the other course faculty. We are both practicing neuro-ophthalmologists.
AAN.com: Who should attend? Who is your target audience?
Cornblath: Anyone interested in neuro-ophthalmology. Our target audience is the general neurologist seeing something of everything each week.
AAN.com: How many cases will be findings?
Cornblath: All of them.
AAN.com: How did you go about picking the findings for the course this year?
Cornblath: Eric and I each came up with a list of cases, then swapped lists. We had about 90-percent overlap and then argued—I mean discussed—the last 10 percent.
AAN.com: Anything special attendees should know about teaching methods or how the course will be run this year?
Cornblath: The course is fast paced with 60 to 70 cases prepared and lots of interaction between the audience, Eric, and myself.
AAN.com: Sounds like a fun and lively evening! Attendees wishing to take this course can register online. Here's a recap of the course information and schedule:
