New and Exciting Events: Support Research in Neurology

To encourage Annual Meeting attendees to donate to research training fellowships in neurology, the AAN Foundation is hosting two new fundraising events in addition to three exciting versions of the ever popular Silent Auction. Proceeds go to support clinical research training fellowships in neurology.

Support Research in Neurology, Buy a Brain
Sunday, April 13, 6:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.

Help ensure the future of neurology and support research in the specialty with a "brain" purchase during the 60th Anniversary Celebration and throughout the week in the McCormick Place West Convention Center. Attendees donate $5, $10, $15, or more and receive a brain certificate with their name and the name of someone they choose to honor. Brains will be displayed throughout the convention center during the Annual Meeting. Please contact Member Services at (800) 879-1960 or (651) 695-2717 for more information about how to buy a brain.

60th Anniversary Run/Walk for Research
Tuesday, April 15, 6:30 a.m.–8:30 a.m.

Join your friends and colleagues for a 5k run or one-mile walk for research beside beautiful Lake Michigan—the perfect backdrop for occasional or seasoned runners and casual walkers. The event is open to all meeting attendees and their families. A professional trainer will offer a brief limber-up workout prior to the start. Refreshments will be available following the event. Registration is $25. Sponsored by AAN Enterprises, Inc.

Bus service to and from the race site will be provided from official AAN hotels. Contact AAN Member Services at (651) 695-2717 or (800) 879-1960 (international) to register.

Silent Auction Call For Donations

The AAN 60th Annual Meeting in Chicago is hosting the AAN Foundation Silent Auction. One of the fundamental components to the Academy's Mission Statement is "supporting clinical and basic research in the neurosciences and related fields." The Silent Auction is a key element in this mission. One hundred percent of the funds raised from the Silent Auction are dedicated to a critical purpose—the funding of the AAN Foundation's Clinical Research Training Fellowship program, which provides two-year fellowship awards to young neuroscience investigators. This program allows young investigators in the early to mid stages of their training to work in a mentored environment with critical protected laboratory time.

Our goal of $90,000 is achievable with your help. A wide variety of items sought for the auction is listed on the Donation Item List. However, all donations are accepted and appreciated. Your donation will be recognized in the Silent Auction catalog, signs at the Annual Meeting, and in member publications reaching more than 20,000 members.

Please complete and return the donor form by February 28, 2008.
