Letter from the Chair, July 2009
Greetings from the Consortium of Neurology Residency Program Directors!
The next CNPD meeting will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at the ANA Meeting in Baltimore. Please RSVP to Nancy Poechmann at npoechmann@aan.com.
As an adult neurology residency program director and AAN member, you are automatically a member of the CNPD. The Consortium strives to improve the quality of professional life for neurology residency program directors. As part of this effort, the Consortium hosts a listserv for raising issues and sharing your opinions with other program directors, at CNPD@lists.aan.com.
The goal of the CNPD is to:
- Represent the interests of neurology residency program directors and programs to the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the National Residency Matching Program, ERAS, ACGME, Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), and Organization of Program Directors Associations (OPDA).
- Provide a "home" where residency program directors can communicate with each other about issues affecting adult neurology residency training programs, share insight into training program management, and discuss controversial issues that challenge the graduate medical education environment.
- Promote the educational role of program directors in the context of professional career development.
- Encourage creation of educational materials and performance of graduate medical education research.
You are strongly encouraged to attend CNPD business meetings held in conjunction with the American Neurologic Association and American Academy of Neurology Annual Meetings. These meetings provide timely information regarding the oversight of residency training programs by the national GME oversight organizations mentioned above.
