About Continuum
Mission: Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology aids neurology professionals in improving the clinical care of patients and in demonstrating continued competency.
Vision: Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology will present the highest quality in-depth information on topics in neurology and be the premier continuing medical education publication for neurology professionals.
Established in 1993, Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology® is the American Academy of Neurology's in-depth clinically oriented review journal for the practicing neurologist, residents and fellows, and medical students. Written by authors who are experts in their field, each bimonthly issue contains timely information around a single topic area in neurology. Authors have the opportunity to add new and relevant material closer to the submission of an issue for publication.
The goals of Continuum include disseminating up-to-date review articles to the neurologist in a lively, interactive format; fostering self-assessment and lifelong study skills; encouraging critical thinking; and strengthening and improving patient care. The self-assessment continuing medical education (CME) component of Continuum includes 40 multiple-choice questions covering material presented in the entire issue, which provides up to 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per issue, and a 12-question practice-oriented Patient Management Problem, which provides up to 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per issue.
The material presented in Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology has been made available by the AAN for educational purposes only. This material is not intended to represent the only method or procedure for the medical situations discussed but rather is intended to present an approach, view, statement, or opinion of the author(s) or producer(s), which may be helpful to others who face similar situations.

STATEMENT ON PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The editor, associate editors, and editorial board of Continuum determine topics and review initial manuscripts. Manuscripts on specific issues are solicited from a guest editor who appoints authors to write sections of the issue. Upon receipt of a manuscript from the guest editor, the editor begins the formal review process. It is understood that submissions received are not under consideration by any other journal and that no part of the submission has appeared previously in any but abstract form. Transfer of copyright to the AAN is a condition of publication.
At least two outside peer reviewers anonymous to the authors are selected to assess quality, balance, and clarity of articles and are given appropriate instructions and necessary assessment forms. (Author identities are kept confidential.) Upon return, comments are communicated to the editor, guest editor, and authors and are addressed. If adjudication is necessary, additional reviewers may be used. Critical reviews of the material at other stages of the development process may also be conducted. Upon receipt of final manuscripts, the editor makes the final decision as to whether material is suitable for publication in Continuum. Rejected manuscripts will not be returned to authors unless specifically requested; print copies of original illustrations, photographs, and slides will be returned.
INFORMED CONSENT/ETHICS OF EXPERIMENTATION
Authors participating in this AAN education program certify that any work with human or animal subjects reported in their text complies with the guiding principles for experimental procedures endorsed by the AAN. Data presented must comply with ethical guidelines for human and animals research.
