Honoring a Giant of Neurology
Milton Alter, MD, considered one of the founders of neuroepidemiology, was honored in 2006 with a fund established in his name to recognize a lifetime of commitment toward improving the lives of people with MS and stroke.
Having studied under the likes of Drs. A.B. Baker and H. Houston Merritt, Alter has gone on to receive countless awards and recognitions, including a recent grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to continue working on MS in Israel; authored over 200 published papers and books; served as a member of numerous local, national, and international professional societies; and is currently a clinical professor of neurology at Drexel University and a senior scientist at Lankenau Institute of Medical Research, both in Philadelphia, PA, where he resides with his beloved wife, Reina.
