Honoring a Giant of Neurology
Lawrence M. Brass, MD, a renowned stroke expert at Yale University School of Medicine and dedicated AAN member, is remembered through the Lawrence M. Brass, MD, Stroke Research Fund with the AAN Foundation. He died of cancer in 2006 at age 49.
Brass devoted his career to solving the problems of stroke, focusing on stroke prevention and stroke in women. A 2005 alumnus of the AAN Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum, Brass also advocated for state involvement in stroke care and prevention. He served on numerous AAN committees, subcommittees, and Sections, most recently as Chair of the Section on Stroke & Vascular Neurology and Vice Chair of the Stroke Systems Work Group.
