Honoring a Giant of Neurology

Francis M. Forster, MD, was one of the "Four Horseman" who founded the AAN in 1948. Forster worked in concert with AAN Past Presidents A.B. Baker and Adolph Sahs and founding Editor of Neurology Russell DeJong to create the AAN, and served President of the Academy from 1957 to 1959. During his career, Forster personally trained over 100 neurologists, several of whom went on to chair their own departments. Forster himself was chair of the neurology departments at Georgetown University and the University of Wisconsin. Shortly before he passed away in 2006, the last of the Four Horsemen was honored at an AAN Foundation event for his lifelong efforts to advance the field of neurology. Donations to this fund will help support groundbreaking neurological research.
