2013 Health Information Technology (HIT) Colloquium: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The 65th AAN Annual Meeting in San Diego will feature the HIT Colloquium: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Presenters will focus on practical tips for neurologists to use when implementing electronic health record (EHR) technology and other IT applications. Case studies will show the benefits and pitfalls in technology. Faculty will also discuss the shift in interactions between patients, doctors, and specialists. Faculty will identify the good, the bad, and the ugly of the role of telemedicine, smartphones, and your EHR in your practice. This will cover interactions with patients, offline, legal pitfalls, and intraoperative monitoring. Faculty will also identify relevant HIPAA issues.

The 64th AAN Annual Meeting in New Orleans featured The $44,000 Question: Are You Ready to Make the Most of Your EHR? Presenters prepared attendees to qualify for federally mandated changes with electronic health records (EHR), including an in–depth look at how to report and qualify for Meaningful Use incentive payments. 2013 Annual Meeting EHR User Group Meetings
To provide education and networking opportunities for neurologists who use the same electronic health records (EHR) software, the AAN is holding two EHR User Group meetings during the Annual Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center. The meetings will be led by AAN experts who have experience with EHR systems.

- Develop structured feedback from neurologists to give to the specific EHR system
