AAN Dementia Encounter Kit
To provide AAN members with practical tools that put guidelines into action, the Academy has developed the AAN Encounter Kit for Dementia, a set of tools designed to bring evidence-based recommendations to the patient/physician encounter.
Based on the AAN guidelines for diagnosis, detection, and management of Dementia, this web resource makes it easy for neurologists to translate evidence into the best possible care for their patients.
How the Dementia Encounter Kit Works
The Encounter Kit is a multi-media, web-based algorithm which assists physicians in coding, diagnosis, and pharmacologic management of cognitive disorders in adults, including mild cognitive impairment and dementia. The algorithm is organized for quick reference and easy comprehension.
Program Features
Diagnosis assistance includes a detailed decision tree to facilitate the diagnosis of a cognitive complaint. If dementia is ruled out, the toolkit provides a tool to discern possible differential diagnoses. If dementia is the diagnosis, another tool will assist the user in the pharmacologic management of cognitive disorders.
