Science Committee

The Science Committee develops recommendations for policies and activities related to all issues of a scientific nature that involve the Academy and its membership. It is responsible for creation of the Scientific component of the Academy's Annual Meeting, including the selection of the winners of science-related awards.

Subcommittees

Clinical Research Subcommittee

Studies current research and develops ways to foster and support clinical research. Develops a link with members in private practice to support clinical research.

Translational Neuroscience Subcommittee

The Translational Neuroscience Subcommittee deals with all issues related to basic science, including the AAN's relationship with the neuroscience community and selected scientific program offerings at the Annual Meeting.

Lecture Awards Subcommittee

Develops and maintains guidelines for all AAN awards and oversight to all Award Subcommittees, and reports to the Science Committee. Provides an efficient mechanism for designating recipients for the Academy awards, as well as speakers for the Contemporary Clinical Issues Plenary Session and the Cotzias, H. Houston Merritt, Wartenberg, and Sidney Carter awards.
