Single–Shot Fast Spin Echo
Single–Shot Fast Spin Echo (SSFSE) or HASTE (Half–fourier Aquisition Single shot Turbo spin Echo) is an ultrafast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence that can assess intracranial abnormalities such as hydrocephalus or space–occupying lesions in an unsedated, moving patient. Because it does not involve radiation, ultrafast MRI is preferred over computed tomography imaging, especially for children or patients who require serial imaging for chronic or recurrent conditions. Pathologies that cause subtle abnormalities are best evaluated with routine MRI.
