Eligible Neurologists: Apply Today for Exemption to 2013 eRx Payment Adjustment

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have re-opened the Quality Reporting Communication Support Page from November 1, 2012, through January 31, 2013, to allow eligible professionals and CMS-selected group practices another opportunity to request a significant hardship exemption to avoid the 2013 only.  The payment adjustment is associated with non-participation in the Medicare Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program.

You may be eligible for an exemption to the 2013 payment adjustment and are urged to apply through the Quality Reporting Communication Support Page if any of the following circumstances applies:

• Inability to electronically prescribe due to state, or federal law, or local law or regulation
• The eligible professional prescribes fewer than 100 prescriptions during a 6-month payment adjustment reporting period
• The eligible professional practices in a rural area without sufficient high-speed internet access
• The eligible professional practices in an area without sufficiently available pharmacies for electronic prescribing
