The FTC has delayed enforcement of "Red Flag" Rules until November 1, 2009

The three-month extension, coupled with this new guidance, should enable businesses to gain a better understanding of any obligations that they may have under the Rule.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has indicated that enforcement of the Red Flags Rule will be delayed until August 1, 2009. The rule–designed to prevent identity theft–requires that physicians (as well as many other businesses) implement procedures to verify identity and protect patient information.
