The AAN Annual Meeting offers five premier plenary sessions every year, free of charge to registered meeting attendees. These events offer a chance to hear leading investigators and scientists in the field discuss critical advances in neuroscience, present the latest and hottest topics in neuroscience, and provide a beacon illuminating the future of neurology.

Now you can view webcasts of the 2009 Plenary Sessions, even if you weren't able to attend the Annual Meeting in Seattle. Use the links below to access the set of presentations for each session. Be sure to use the "Browse" tab at the top left of the viewer pane to find other presentations within the plenary sessions.

Presidential Plenary Session presents clinically relevant research by leading researchers. The keynote address—the Presidential Lecture—is awarded in non-election years to a neurologist chosen by the American Academy of Neurology President. In election years this lecture is awarded to the outgoing President of the American Academy of Neurology.

Hot Topics Plenary Sessions spotlight some of the most compelling research in neuroscience, featuring translational research related to clinical issues of importance. These sessions highlight presentations from other subspecialty and neuroscientific meetings on stimulating and timely neurologic topics.

Contemporary Clinical Issues and Case Studies Plenary Session examines new therapeutic developments, clinical applications, of basic and translational research, and innovative technical developments. A case study discussion follows for a practical approach to using new research in practice.

Frontiers in Clinical Neuroscience Plenary Session focuses on translational research related to clinical issues of importance. Four physician-scientists outline their recent research findings and discuss clinical implications.

Scientific Program Highlights Plenary Session provides an overview of the best research in select neurologic topics from more than 2,000 scientific poster and platform presentations. In addition, interesting abstracts presented at subspecialty meetings leading up to the Annual Meeting that are not on the program—but should be heard by a wide audience—are also be presented.
