Neurologists who refer or order and are not yet enrolled in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) internet-based Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) are strongly encouraged to begin this process immediately to meet the January 3, 2011 deadline and avoid disruptions in payment.

There are several advantages to using Internet-based PECOS:

  • Quicker processing times
  • Tailored application process
  • Control over your enrollment information
  • Quick and easy verification and updating your information for accuracy
  • Less staff time and administrative costs to complete and submit Medicare enrollment

In addition, neurologists must be enrolled in PECOS in order to receive payment for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive program.

Not sure if you are enrolled in PECOS or want to verify your enrollment?
CMS has posted a list of physicians who are already enrolled in the PECOS system or are in the process of enrolling on its website.

Visit the CMS Internet-based PECOS website for tips on the Medicare enrollment process.
