NeuroPI, the AAN's new performance improvement module designed to help members address the Performance in Practice (PIP) component of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) mandated by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), now is available.
The first available module in the series focuses on Epilepsy, and more modules will become available in the coming months, including Parkinson's Disease and Patient Safety: Falls. Order today!
Because completing the PIP process can take up to two years, those applying for re-certification between 2013 and 2015 should understand and begin working towards completing this initiative now. For those not applying for recertification, NeuroPI is specifically designed to extend beyond MOC requirements into every day practice to benefit neurologists and patients.
In addition to helping ABPN diplomates fulfill MOC requirements, each module:

"While MOC is not mandated by the AAN, the AAN's role in MOC and PIP is to make sure members who are participating in MOC have the appropriate tools and resources—like the new NeuroPI—to help them meet these requirements," said Donald Iverson, MD, FAAN, NeuroPI series editor. "And at only $199 per module for AAN members, it's an affordable way to fulfill PIP and earn 20 CME credits in one product. Essentially, it averages out to approximately $9.95 per credit, which is an excellent value."
MOC is not an AAN initiative. MOC is mandated by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and is designed to ensure that physician specialists offer quality patient care through an ongoing process of self-improvement and performance improvement. The process can take up to two years to complete. For a detailed phase-in schedule, visit the ABPN website.
