Recipient will receive:

  • The AAN will provide airfare and lodging for up to four nights between Saturday, March 16-Saturday, March 23 , 2013 to attend the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 64rd Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.
  • Annual Meeting complimentary registration for the meeting
  • The ability to register for four educational programs at their choosing
  • The opportunity to participate in the Medical Student rush line with fees waived for certain programs
  • Certificate of recognition and be acknowledged during the AAN and American Brain Foundation Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, March 20, 2012
  • Educational programs at the junior member rate
  • The recipient will also receive a per diem for food and beverage

Eligibility:

Racial minority medical students from under-represented and underserved populations in good standing at a US medical school. Preference is given to second- and third-year students. Traditionally underrepresented groups in neurology include, but are not limited to, African American/Black, American Indian, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native and Hispanic/Lation from other groups historically underrepresented in the medical profession.

Application Requirements:

  • A single-spaced, one-page essay outlining the applicant's interest in a career in neurology, academic achievements and community involvment and plans to maximize the AAN Annual Meeting opportunity
  • A letter of recommendation from a neurology professor.
  • A curriculum vitae.
