Patient Safety Award

The Patient Safety Award recognizes research and/or care improvement projects designed to meet the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals. Favor will be given to those applicants that demonstrate innovative and forward-thinking approaches, as well as measurable and replicable improvement. One recipient will be selected from each of two categories: Residents/Fellows and Practicing Neurologists.

Presentation

Recipients are expected to give a 10-minute presentation of their research or care improvement project during the Patient Safety Colloquium at the 65th AAN Annual Meeting.

Recipient will receive:

  • Certificate of recognition
  • $500 prize
  • Complimentary registration for 65th Annual Meeting
  • Recognition in the 2013 Awards Luncheon program at 65th Annual Meeting

Eligibility

  • Applicant or nominee must be a member in good standing of the AAN with a Junior member type for the Resident/Fellow award; or Active, Active Corresponding, Fellow, or Fellow Corresponding member type for the Practicing Neurologist award
  • Applicant or nominee must be a lead investigator or designer of the research or care improvement project

    Application Procedure

    To be eligible for the award, the applicant must submit:

    1. An online application
    2. Current curriculum vitae
    3. At least 1 letter of recommendation or nomination
    4. A 1 page summary of the research or care improvement project
