This high-quality CD-ROM offers a unique, hands-on approach to learning needle examination. The EMG sound synthesizer teaches auditory recognition of waveforms by allowing the user to produce the waveform themselves. This ground-breaking educational tool permits the user to simulate the EMG signals they will encounter with individual patients eliminating the dependence on a “typical” example. The user is able to listen to, look at and learn the waveforms they will see in patients with mild, moderate and severe forms of Myasthenia Gravis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, neuropathies and myopathies. Two self-assessment quizzes test how well the individual has learned to recognize a change in one of the EMG signal characteristics or to make highly accurate quantitative estimates of these characteristics. This is an add-on to the first edition program (2004) that teaches users to recognize two simultaneous waveforms.
