Endorsed or Affirmed Guidelines

The American Academy of Neurology is approached by other systematic review and guideline developers and asked to review and consider documents for endorsement. Documents that utilize a process substantially equivalent to the methodology utilized by the AAN will be considered for endorsement.

Documents developed by external organizations that utilize a methodology that is substantially different than that used by the AAN will be considered for affirmation of value. The AAN may not agree with every recommendation in such a document, but overall considers the document to be of educational value to its members. Documents developed by external organizations that don’t clearly articulate their methodology and do not meet either of the above criteria will not be considered for endorsement or affirmation of value. The full process is articulated in this Systematic Review and Guideline Endorsement Policy Document.
