Migraine Science Collaborative (MSC) was launched on May 1, 2020 to establish inter-institutional and multi-disciplinary collaborations in efforts to increase and enhance the quality of migraine research. Migraine disease is a complex, multi-system and debilitating neurological disease and has symptoms that present to several medical specialties beyond neurology. Further understanding the complex pathophysiology and its comorbidities will improve the diagnosis and management of migraine and other neurological disorders.

To unite the migraine scientific community through engagement, advance unmet research needs in migraine through novel multi-disciplinary collaborations and support the careers of young investigators through educational resources and a mentorship program.

MSC is a free membership-based platform designed to increase engagement among a diverse group of researchers interested in advancing migraine research. Additionally, clinicians and researchers from different disciplines can lend their expertise to the challenges in migraine treatment. This site includes forums to discuss specific topics, a resource library, event notices, grant and other funding opportunities and job offerings. MSC also provides commentary on newly published manuscripts, webinars and educational videos and features a mentor program to connect emerging researchers with established researchers.

Since the official launch of MSC, we have had 140 unique logins. We have established nine different discussion forums with 41 discussion threads so far with several members joining more than one community. User activity on MSC is measured as engagement points and the top three factors earning the most points so far are page views, in-network messaging and discussion group subscriptions. Demographic breakdown of current members: 36 researchers (PhDs and clinical), 46 practicing clinicians, 23 trainees (post-doctoral fellows, residents, clinical fellows and graduate students) and 17 international members. We also have industry scientists, non-profit leaders, and other healthcare professionals as members.

MSC has potential to invigorate and grow the migraine research community through collaboration and education.
