Participants should gain a better understanding of AAN advocacy and how to become involved in a fashion that is easily applicable to research and multiple specialty practices. There will be emphasis on how to become actively engaged in advocacy efforts and different avenues by which to do so. Participants should be able to: understand how to identify potential advocacy issues in the practice of clinical or research-based neurology; learn how the AAN approaches advocacy issues at the local, state, and national level and how these impact clinical and research practice; and understand the mechanisms with which to engage in AAN advocacy as a member.
