Participants should be able to: manage patients with first seizure by applying risk:benefit analysis using prediction of seizure recurrence based on presentation and ancillary tests; evaluate patients for epilepsy surgery, weighing the advantages/disadvantages of different approaches and understanding the rationale for selecting a specific approach; appropriately refer patients for implementation of and successfully treat them with neurostimulation devices; and recognize who and how to initiate discussion of SUDEP in patients who are at risk.
