Participants should be able to recognize the neurological consequences of repetitive sports concussion in the athlete, along with an understanding of the magnitude of the problem and risk factors associated with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Participants should be able to identify radiological features of CTE utilizing more advanced neuroimaging techniques and understand the key pathological features of the syndrome. Furthermore, participants should be able to recognize the similarities between CTE and other neurodegenerative diseases while realizing that this syndrome may represent a distinct neurodegenerative process.
