Participants should be able to recognize appropriate patients who may benefit from cEEG monitoring; appreciate the nuanced interpretation of cEEG data and differentiate artifacts from cerebral activity; recognize the value and limitations of quantitative analysis of cEEG and apply this to their practice settings; understand the difference between recurrent electrographic seizures and status epilepticus and select appropriately aggressive therapy, thereby improving patient outcomes; and appreciate the economic and medicolegal impact of providing cEEG monitoring to critically ill patients.
