Participants should be able to: describe the rationale for the use of DBS and the patients for whom the treatment is most indicated; have a general understanding of DBS surgery and the possible roles of the neurologist in the O.R.; appreciate the principles of initial DBS stimulator activation and programming; and recognize the issues involved in the short- and long-term management of movement disorder patients treated with DBS.
