Neurology Specific APMs
The AAN has created two condition-based Alternative Payment Models (APMs) for neurology. The initial APMs focus on two common disease areas, Headache and Epilepsy, and the AAN plans to develop more condition-based APMs. These models may qualify under the APM track of MACRA and allow neurologists to negotiate new arrangements with payers.

The AAN has developed these APMs as educational tools for its members. AAN members may print and use the APMs for their noncommercial purposes, which includes sharing the documents with insurers.
The APMs do not contain legal advice. Members choosing to use the APMs should consult their own legal counsel or other professional advisors about using the documents in their specific situations.
The AAN has undertaken reasonable efforts to make the APMs as accurate and useful as possible but cannot guarantee their accuracy or utility. In addition, the AAN intends to but is not obligated to, update the APMs from time to time.
Finally, the AAN is not responsible for any losses, expenses, damages, claims, or liabilities incurred by any user or third party that arise from the use of the APMs.
