We've been working hard for our members to reduce the many regulatory hassles you face each day-and it's paying off! As a result of the AAN's strong relationship with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and our continued meetings, comment letters, and advocacy efforts over the past year, we are pleased to report that CMS has proposed several Medicare changes that will reduce the number of regulatory hassles impacting neurologists.

According to its proposals issued on July 13, 2017, CMS has suggested these beneficial changes for which the AAN advocated:

  • A stable impact in overall Medicare spending projected for neurology
  • Reduced reporting requirements and penalties under CMS quality programs
  • An opportunity to provide ideas to reduce red tape and complexity in Medicare
  • Input on changes to reform E/M documentation guidelines and reduce burdens
