Benefits
One recipient will be selected to receive a $1,500 cash award and a framed certificate of recognition from the AAN.
Eligibility
The nominating criteria are as follows:
- Educators – physicians, physician-scientists, and scientists.
- Educator definition: MD/DO/PhD
- A medical educator is a skilled professional who combines deep medical knowledge with effective teaching methodologies, adept communication, technological integration, mentorship, and/or a commitment to ongoing learning and innovation in order to foster a supportive and advanced learning environment in medicine.
- Nominations and self-nominations accepted.
- Nominee must have a minimum of 20+ years of experience in neurologic teaching after the completion of training.
- Nominee must be an AAN member.
- Nominations should reflect an emphasis on national and regional contributions in medical education.
- The nominee should exhibit leadership, innovation, and scholarship in medical education.
- The nominee’s neurological education activities should include significant work in the AAN, currently or in the past. Examples include but not limited to: committee/subcommittee member, leadership program participant, etc.
- Nominations should be inclusive in regard to gender and under-represented groups
- Posthumous nominations are not accepted.
Expectation
Recipient will speak at the AAN Annual Meeting, details TBD.
Application Requirements
- Two letters of support from persons other than the nominator.
- One letter of support must be from a former learner.
- Learner definition: medical student, neurology resident, or neurology fellow.
- Nominee’s curriculum vitae.
- One letter of support must be from a former learner.
