This award recognizes excellence in research in the history of neurology. Submission evaluation is based primarily on the originality of the work and the clarity with which ideas are expressed.

• Applications open: June 25, 2024
• Applications close: October 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. CT

Presentation

Recipient is expected to present the selected paper during the history of neurology scientific session at the 2025 AAN Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

• Applications may include unpublished manuscripts and manuscripts that have been published within the last two years (at the time of the submission deadline)
• Industry employees are not eligible to apply

Application Procedure

Applicants should submit one complete set of the following materials:

1. Completed application form
2. Typed, double-spaced copy of the complete manuscript Note: manuscripts and references must be in the format used in the journal Neurology
3. Information indicating if manuscript has been submitted for publication elsewhere or has received an award from another organization

Nominations

This award accepts both self-applicants and nominations. Nominators should complete the submission form and select the option "I wish to nominate someone". The nominee will receive an email with a link to complete the award application and upload their application materials. Nominators do not need to provide application materials for the nominee.

Judging Criteria 

• Manuscript Quality of Writing - Demonstrate the following qualities: clarity, clear relay of methods, succinct communication style.
• Overall Impact on the Field - Judges will consider scientific integrity, academic excellence, legacy of mentorship, outstanding professionalism, and inspiration for future generations.
