Our ACGME-accredited one-year fellowship offers a comprehensive training experience designed to develop neurologists into experts in clinical neurophysiology. Fellows gain extensive exposure to the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting the nervous system and muscles through direct patient care and advanced neurophysiological procedures. The program accepts three fellows annually and provides eligibility for ABPN certification in Clinical Neurophysiology upon completion. Training occurs at The University of Kansas Health System and affiliated sites, offering diverse clinical experiences across inpatient and outpatient settings. Key Features of the Program: Rotations: Neuromuscular/EMG (4 months) – Includes ALS clinic, neuromuscular clinic, and performance of EMGs. Epilepsy/EEG & Evoked Potentials (4 months) – Daily EEG interpretation, epilepsy monitoring, and EP readings. VA Medical Center (4 months) – EMG clinics, chemodenervation, EEG, sleep clinic, and intraoperative monitoring. Educational Opportunities: Weekly conferences, journal clubs, lecture series, and multidisciplinary case presentations. Research Training: Fellows participate in clinical research design, interpretation, and investigator-initiated studies, with access to formal coursework in biostatistics and clinical research methodology. Additional Learning: Exposure to autonomic testing, single-fiber EMG, sleep physiology, and intraoperative monitoring. Graduates of the program emerge with advanced skills in neurophysiological testing, interpretation, and patient care, supported by a strong foundation in research and evidence-based practice.
