| The mission of the ACGME accredited OHSU Vascular Neurology Fellowship is to educate the next generation of vascular neurologists in becoming exemplary clinicians and research scientists that will continue to advance stroke care. The aims of the program are to 1) Train fellows to become excellent clinicians who are independent in the practice of vascular neurology; 2) Provide fellows with a base for initiating their own research and interpreting the results of others and 3) Educate fellows in the promotion of health equity. The fellowship is approved for two positions per year. The fellowship offers comprehensive training in the assessment and treatment of patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, both in acute care and in the outpatient setting. Fellows learn advanced diagnostic evaluations beyond what is taught in residency training including imaging interpretation as well as vascular ultrasound. The program has extensive didactics to support medical knowledge and includes training and assessment in all of the core competencies. The training takes place in an active environment of scholarly investigation since the OHSU stroke program has a significant clinical research program with national recognition. | |
