American Academy of Neurology Launches New Open Access Medical Journal

The American Academy of Neurology today launched a new online, open access medical journal, titled Neurology® Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation, to provide neurologists and scientists interested in translational research with peer-reviewed articles, editorials and reviews to enhance patient care, education, and clinical and translational research. “We’re excited to be launching this journal in the area of neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation” said Robert A. Gross, MD, PhD, FAAN, Editor-in-Chief of the AAN’s flagship journal Neurology®. “As an online-only, open access publication, Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation will quickly bring the best papers in this field to neurologists worldwide. Authors, who retain copyright of their articles, can expect fast and thorough peer review equal to that performed for Neurology.” Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation will feature open access reports of original research and in-depth reviews of topics including multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Guillian-Barré, myasthenia, inflammatory muscle disease, neurodegeneration (AD, PD, ALS), non-infectious encephalitis and infections of the nervous system, and a broad range of other neurologic diseases. The journal will be an online-only publication, with an iPad® app coming soon. Richard M. Ransohoff, MD, a professor of molecular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western University, staff neurologist at the Mellen Center for MS Treatment and Research, and director of the Neuroinflammation Research Center in the Department of Neurosciences of the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic, is the Editor of Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation.
