FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON March 15, 2004

Two Journalists Selected for American Academy of Neurology 56th Annual Meeting Fellowships

St. Paul, Minn. -

John Fauber and Emily Singer have been selected for the 2004 American Academy of Neurology Journalism Fellowships. Fauber is a medical and science reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Singer is a freelance science writer who contributes to New Scientist and Nature. The annual Journalism Fellowships honor excellence in medical, health and science reporting, and provide travel and accommodations for Fauber and Singer to attend the 56th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif., held April 24 – May 1, 2004. “I think the meeting will be a wonderful opportunity to advance my understanding of neurology and develop sources that can help with future stories,” said Fauber. During the meeting, journalists learn about the latest advances in research and treatment for neurological disorders and make contacts with experts in the field. The on-site Press Room of the Moscone Convention Center will offer several media briefings and assistance with arranging interviews. “I’ll look for the latest research in the areas I often cover including autism, Alzheimer’s disease and depression,” said Singer, who is based in Boxboro, Mass. “I will also search for new trends or innovative theories as potential subjects for feature stories.” Fauber and Singer will be recognized during the meeting’s Scientific and Career Milestones Awards Luncheon on April 28.
