Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON June 27, 2005

American Academy of Neurology Opens Office in D.C.

St. Paul, Minn. -

The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has opened a Washington, D.C. office for federal affairs. With more than 14,000 U.S. members, the AAN has sent legislative counsel Mike Amery to D.C. from St. Paul, Minn. where the AAN is based. Amery will focus on issues of interest to neurologists such as Medicare reimbursement and liability reform. This is a return to the district for Amery who served as a legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator Rod Grams (R-Minn.) in the mid-1990s. He joined the AAN staff in 2000. “We felt it was important to have a direct conduit representing the AAN in Washington,” said Catherine M. Rydell, AAN executive director and CEO. “Mike will help us stay on the pulse of what is happening to healthcare legislation on a day-to-day basis, especially on issues related to neurology and items that impact people with neurological disease.”
