University of Florida Behavioral Neurology Fellow to Receive Clinical Research Training Fellowship from AAN Foundation
St. Paul, Minn., -
Benzi Kluger, MD, a Behavioral Neurology Fellow at the University of Florida in Gainesville, has been selected to receive a Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the American Academy of Neurology Foundation. Kluger will be honored during the American Academy of Neurology 58th Annual Meeting held April 1 – 8, 2006 in San Diego, Calif., The two-year fellowship is designed to support a young neurologist conducting clinical research in a mentored environment. Kluger’s research will focus on the types and causes of fatigue in both healthy patients and those who have experienced a stroke. “Fatigue is a significant problem for many patients but our understanding of this symptom is very limited,” said Kluger. “The goal of my research is to classify different types of fatigue and to see if different types of fatigue have different causes. By understanding the types and causes of fatigue we hope that we can develop better and more specific treatments for this debilitating symptom.” The fellowship also provides tuition reimbursement for education in clinical research methodology. The fellowship is supported by the AAN Foundation Corporate Roundtable. The 58th Annual Meeting takes place in the San Diego Convention Center. It is the world’s largest annual gathering of neurologists.
