FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contacts: Angela Babb, (651) 695-2789, ababb@aan.com ***MEDIA ADVISORY*** New Online Self-Assessment Exam Offered by American Academy of Neurology ST. PAUL, Minn. –- The American Academy of Neurology is launching a new online self-assessment examination in clinical neurology. The exam is designed to help neurologists meet the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) lifelong and continuous learning requirement for Maintenance of Certification. The content outline for the exam is based on the outline used for the ABPN’s cognitive examination for recertification in clinical neurology. Test takers can choose to take the exam as a timed test with delayed feedback. The software displays a clock that keeps track of the number of minutes test takers spend on the examination. After completing the exam, they will learn whether their answers were correct or incorrect. The feedback will include a brief critique providing information about the answer(s) and reference(s) for further reading. Users can also choose to take the test without being timed, and can choose to receive immediate feedback, with the answers and critiques provided after every question. Users can also print and/or save the entire exam, including their responses, correct answers, and critiques, and will also have access to the exam questions and their responses for eight months after the date of purchase. Test takers will also receive their scores broken down by topic, such as movement disorders or epilepsy, and percentiles comparing their performance to other neurologists. The 100-item, multiple choice examination is available to members for $99.00. Nonmembers can also take the exam for $149.00.
